Bright Botanicals: Summertime Branding

UX Role
creator, founder
Mission
communicate the values of sustainability, health, and quality through homemade all pupose salves.
Timeline
may 2017- present
Overview
Bright Botanicals is a modern skincare brand rooted in natural ingredients and a playful visual identity. As lead designer, I helped translate its mission into an e-commerce experience that felt both clean and personal.
My goal was to connect users with a brand that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also communicated the values of Ayurvedic practices along with the moxie of a  Southern Living recipe.
Challenge
The natural skincare market is highly saturated, making it difficult for new brands to stand out. Many consumers struggle to find trustworthy, ingredient-conscious products through an intuitive online shopping experience.
Research
To understand how Bright Botanicals could differentiate itself, I analyzed competitor websites, customer reviews, and industry trends. This helped identify gaps in UX, such as overwhelming product pages, unclear ingredient information, and complicated checkout flows.
Additionally, I conducted informal interviews and surveys with potential customers to uncover pain points in online skincare shopping.
Market Research + Interviews
Asking around, what do customers want
  • Users wanted ingredient transparency and educational content.
  • A visually immersive experience would build trust and reflect product quality.
  • A frictionless checkout process was essential to prevent cart abandonment.
Branding and Visual Identity
I developed a clean, botanical-inspired aesthetic with an emphasis on natural tones, elegant typography, and minimalistic design. The goal was to create an inviting, premium look that resonated with ingredient-conscious buyers.
Conclusion
Bright Botanicals was more than an e-commerce project—it was an entrepreneurial journey that deepened my skills in product design, branding, and user experience. It demonstrated how thoughtful UX can drive engagement and build loyalty in a competitive market. Moving forward, I aim to apply these insights to other design challenges, ensuring that every user interaction feels seamless, meaningful, and aligned with business goals.
